About the Role
As an Account Executive – Energy Storage, you will help grow sales of our battery remote operations and related services into the Northeast United States. You will play a key part in expanding Workbench’s service offerings in the Northeast U.S. market.
This is a hunting role. You will build your own pipeline of customers who may included battery storage owners, developers, and operators and other prospective customers. In your first few months, you will focus on setting up appointments and learning our services, market, and sales approach. Once you’re up to speed, you will take on the complete sales cycle from first contact through contract negotiation and close.
You will work closely with our operations and engineering teams to scope services, develop proposals, and translate technical capabilities into clear value for prospects. The role is remote with regular travel to and within target markets.
You will be joining a team focused on growth and building unique industry experience at the center of the clean energy transition.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage a pipeline of BESS owner, developer, and operator prospects in the Northeast U.S and other target markets as required
- Generate new business through outbound prospecting by email, phone, and in person at industry events
- Lead discovery calls and technical discussions covering remote operations, monitoring, SCADA integration and related energy management services.
- Manage the complete sales cycle from introductory meeting to contract negotiation, with support from the Workbench team
- Travel to Northeast U.S and other markets to meet prospects and attend industry events
- Work with operations and engineering teams to scope services and prepare proposals
- Maintain accurate pipeline, activity, and account records in the CRM
- Provide market feedback to inform service development and market entry strategy

Desired Skills and Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience in technical sales or business development in the power sector
- Direct experience with battery energy storage systems, remote operations centers, SCADA, and/or energy management
- Relevant degree, such as electrical/mechanical engineering, business or a related field.
- Experience with energy storage and the power sector is weighted above a relevant degree
- Proven hunter with a track record of generating new business and closing deals
- Familiarity with US wholesale electricity markets such as NYISO, ISO-NE, PJM, and MISO an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting technical material to both engineering and commercial audiences
- Self-motivated with demonstrated persistence through long sales cycles

- Remote role, with regular travel to target markets and occasional travel to our downtown Toronto office
