About the Role
As Business Development and Marketing Associate, you’ll play a key role on our team by identifying new sales opportunities, supporting marketing efforts and, developing strategies for entering new markets.
The role will be dynamic and offer the opportunity to participate in many aspects of the company’s business development and marketing functions.
Once you gain comfort with the industry and our suite of services, you will have the opportunity to fully own aspects of the marketing function and manage the complete sales cycle from introductory meeting to contract negotiation.
You’ll be joining a team focused on growth, taking on a mix of projects and, building unique industry experience that will lay the foundation for a successful career in the clean energy transition.
We’re looking for candidates with a relevant university degree, some sales or account management experience, and a keen interest in the power sector.
Responsibilities
- Research new markets and develop target lists
- Generate new leads by clearly communicating sales offerings through email, phone, and in-person at industry events
- Help create marketing content, social media posts and, schedules
- Design and execute email campaigns
- Conduct high-level qualification and discovery calls with prospects
- Participate in industry events and networking opportunities
- Participate in the development of Workbench Energy’s marketing strategy
- Support the sales team through assigned research topics and CRM system upkeep

Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years of experience in sales or account management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – strong phone presence
- Positive, self-motivated
- Demonstrated persistence, follow-through in pursuing new opportunities and, nurturing long sales cycles
- Passionate about power and sustainability
- Thrive in a competitive environment
- Proven problem-solving abilities
- Team player! We are a small team, so fit is important
- Certain services offered are technical in nature. Technical degree or relevant experience is a plus
Additional Details
- Hybrid work – a combination of work-from-home and in-office
- Office is downtown Toronto
- On Target Earnings (Salary + Commission) $75,000-$95,000 with additional earning potential as your role expands
